Established in March 2014, the School of International Art Education (abbr. SIAE), Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, handles the academic and administrative affairs of Sino-British Digital Media Arts program, and HK/MAC/TW and international student management. Assembling the cultural wisdom and artistic achievements of the East and the West in a globalized cultural and intellectual context, the SIAE tries to realize the improvement of the ability to run the academy and value orientation in the interaction of two kinds of resources, to inherit the cultural classics and to implement contemporary artistic creation and art education in artistic and educational exchanges. The school emphasizes the cultivation of moral values, cultural awareness and creative thinking, focuses on the merging of art, science and technology, the development of contemporary art, essential features of art in the new media era, and cultivates creative talents of the new era with aspirations, wisdom and capability.
Features of Sino-British Cooperative Education Programme
By introducing high-quality educational resources from Britain, the programme aims to deepen Sino-British cultural and educational exchanges. On the basis of twofold cultural resources, it aims to further improve the education model with Chinese characteristics, and to provide useful experiences for teaching reform in Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts.
The major of Digital Media Arts in the programme is the most forefront art major in the era of information networks. Its educational objective aims to cultivate creative and inter-disciplinary talents with a good mastery of digital media arts and technologies, globalized cultural concepts, emotions and sense of responsibility.
The programme is characterized by the “sandwich” curriculum system and adopts the curriculum structure consisting of curriculum objectives, knowledge-building and experimental teaching with clear levels and stressed focal points. A teaching structure featured by classification learning and advancement from level to level is designed, and it equips the students with goal-targeted progressive learning experiences.
